EASTER TIME IS AROUND THE CORNER

While at the VA clinic I was the most unusual lady all decked out for Easter, could not resist taking her picture, and she posed so nicely and did not move at all. Here are just a few of the flowers in bloom around Woodland, there are so many things in bloom got to love spring time.

Could not resist taking a picture of "a flying sauce"? Interesting what you find in the California sky's.

Later and happy Easter........B

BRYCE PEARSON TURNS 10

The week end we got arrived from Yuma AZ I took Bryce shopping in Sacramento, we let Mom and Dad come along so we would not get lost. First stop was Sports Authority where he found some poster and something else but that was weeks ago and since I am getting old I forgot what it was. On to Lids for a new base ball hat, he picked out an A's hat and then we had his name embroidered on the back. The minute we got home Dad had to put his posters on his bedroom walls. Nice fun day. Popi and I arrived in woodland Friday just in time to see Bryce's base ball game, they did not win, but they had fun playing. It was fun watching his team play and how much they have improved since last year. I also was able to visit with Steve's Mom and Dad what a nice treat. I really notice how much both boys have grown since I last saw them. Jace is getting so mature before long he will be going off to collage. Saturday afternoon was Bryce's Birthday Day party, it was out in the country nice big yard, there was a base ball, volley ball, and washer game all going on at the same time. The kids ran wild and had a ball. Well not really ran wild.........We even had a Goat join our party here is Jace and Mom introducing him to everyone. We had hot dogs with the works, it was the perfect menu for a 10Th birthday. No birthday party is complete till you have presents and cake with ice cream. In that order too!!! The cake had to be chocolate with a base ball theme. Bottom center is "Kit Kat" arriving with a present. It was a nice fun layed back birthday party thank you Bryce. Later when something happens or the mood strikes me......B

JULIEANNA'S PATIO CAFE

is one of Yuma's best restaurants, so of course that is where we had dinner last nigh with JJ and Char. Started out with Baked mushrooms with Italian sausage and cheese , everyone had a salad but me and I chose tortilla soup it was quite taste. Prime rib was JJ and Wayne's choice for dinner, Char had the New York Steak and I had the double cut pork chop. Everyone was pleased with there choices, we were all to full to try the deserts. I even took half my pork chop home. Wayne and I have been here for lunch but this is our first time for dinner and we will be back. Rhonda you would love this place. Of course we ate outside on the patio at first it was almost to loud since they have Macaws, I believe they were asking to go back to there home, they were done entertaining the people. As you can tell by the pix we are all doing our own thing Wayne day dreaming, JJ checking his phone, Char eating and me taking pictures. Nice fun relaxing evening.

Meet Picacho a blue and gold Macaw, he was telling us quite a story till his handler took him back to his home. I did not know that birds could be so loud. There is a very friendly peacock that loves to strut around, he is quite and very friendly as you can see he let me get very close, no idea what his name is. No zoom was was used to take the Peacock pictures. Julieanna's band it a metal Mexican Band in the court yard.

Almost time to head North, if Wayne gets busy and gets his work done we can get one more day of caching in before we have to leave. Our time here in Yuma is almost over..... still not sure when we will leave, just keep watching the weather.

GOOD SUNDAY

Our morning started out at Yuma Landing for breakfast. Larry, Audrey, JJ, Char, Wayne Manning Wayne and myself. Fun time at breakfast talking about when we were young and growing up, ringer washers, early TV shows. It was very entertaining remembering back so many years. After breakfast it was time for the A team to hit the desert, I found all kinds of things there today....besides caches. So nice and green in Pacacho and some of the catus in bloom. The fish hook cactus are plentifully and bright red now. The Occotillo cactus is one of my favorite, found a bloom on the desert floor now you can see what just one flower looks like. The "teddy bear" cactus look like it is glowing in the sunlight.
Here are a few of my favorite pictures from today, see if you can find the turtle on the side of the hill.... Not sure what all the towers are but they were quite a few and very few looked the same. They are very big towers. Due to all the different minerals the rocks are very colorful.
Some pictures at a few of the caches we found today. You never know who your going to see when your caching, here are 4 cars of cachers they stopped to visit, and let us know there was going to be some new caches published shortly. As Sally said "Your 3 days to early". Just might have to come back to this area again before we leave for home. Stopped at the Q on the way home for our "fix". Wayne won what I lost....oh well glad he got it instead of the casino.
Have walked over a mile a day for the last 10 days, since we went caching today I did not get my walk in. Well I really did but not all at once, and it was up hill over rocks must admit a nice workout, and did not get tired like I normally do. Hummmm could walking every day have something to do with that?

Tomorrow will go back to my morning walks......I am just so proud of me.... B

BUSY FRIDAY AND SATURDAY

This year the "Lettuce Days" was held at the Quartermaster Depot, where in the past it was in Old Town. It was OK at QD it was just different. I had a crab cake that was OK, two days in a row I have had crab cakes, had them at the Outback also on Thursday night. Both good, just different. Vender's selling there wares, and the of course the farmers showing off there produce. They had large farm equipment on display this year. We stayed long enough to walk around one time and then headed for the casino.
Today was the Celebration of life for one of our fellow cachers Larry Countryman or as us cachers called him lcpc28. Dreaded cancer took him all to soon. It was a nice turn out, as many non-cachers as cachers, which was nice to see.
It was a nice get together where lots of stories were told, everyone seemed to have a favorite lcpc story or cache to talk about. Robert and Char furnished the hot dogs and Buffalo burgers and everyone else brought salads and deserts. Oh so much good food, sure wish I could still eat like I did 30 years ago....

Tomorrow looks like breakfast and caching. Yummy & fun day ahead, will let you know all about it tomorrow. B

MATO

stands for Midnight at the Oasis, which is the Yearly car show in Yuma, yesterday was the parade and today and Sunday will be the show and shine at the Ray Kroc Complex. This year we did not go to the parade, but we did go by the R K complex and saw a few of the cars.

Yesterday we stated out our day by taking the RZR to the Motorcycle shop, nothing serious just a Leakey tire. We had time to kill what to do? You guessed it we hit the casinos, all three of them in one day, even managed to find time to have a bowl of clam chowder at the Mad Greek Restaurant.
These pictures were taken at Cocopah casino parking lot, the cars were starting to arrive at the staging area for the parade. Wayne checked out several of the cars while I took pictures. Understand there was almost 500 cars for the parade.

Yesterday and today I have taken a walk both days just a little over a mile, need to make myself to that everyday. Must admit I am at a good start, two days in a row. That is a record for me you know.

Starting to get braver with my new iPhone, downloaded FB, Geo caching and bar codes. Now to use them, so many times I make things harder than they are..........or at least think that way. I just need to "DO IT".

Have a good week end everyone.....................B

YUMA EVENT #8

A fun time was had by all at the S.W.A.G event at Gateway Park in Yuma AZ. So many people and so little time to visit with everyone, but I sure tried. Wayne took care of the tickets for the 50/50 drawing, dang I do not know who won those.... Gerri was in charge of Travel bugs, there were so many TB's this year and everyone of them was sent on there way to a new destination. Norm was in charge of the sign in sheet, and giving everyone a ticket for the drawing. Ed was in charge of interviewing as many caches that would talk to him. He did a great job what a "gift to gab" he has. We had a poker run for those that wasted to participate, that is always fun and helps you work up an appetite.

No matter what you do in life there is always a line, which is OK with cachers, that way you have a captive audience for telling your favorite caching stories. You will know where there from and hear all about there favorite cache. Don't forget about the cats, dogs and kids too.
The first 3 pix were taken from the bridge, just a different view of things. There is John getting ready for the poker run, him and his helpers.
A lot of work goes into getting the BBQ ready, JJ and crew did a great job as always. Tri tip, refried beans, slaw and tortilla, yummm, what more could you want. OH YEAH, cookies that is what more, and Betty Jo (JJ's Mom) made us some yummy cookies. Once again a job well done by all.

See you all same place next year...............B (crzoldy)

YUMA WARM UP EVENT #8

This afternoon we had our warm up event at Lutes Casino in old town Yuma. Nice turn out and a lot of new caches. I was in my element visiting with new caches, I am leaning that no matter what part of the country your from cachers always show up early for events. New camera and still learning how to use it so did not take as many pictures as I normally do.

I can hear rain on the roof, and rain is predicted for tomorrow, just hope the storm is showing up early and tomorrow will be a beautiful sunny day. No tomorrow WILL be a beautiful sunny day. Power of positive thinking you know.

Will try to be better and take more pictures tomorrow. B

OH SO NICE TO HAVE A NEW TOY

I am sure you have already seen Wayne's blog and know that he (we) have a new toy. This was Saturday the day he bought the RzrXP 900. There was an orange RzrS 800 on the floor and as far as I knew that was the one going home with us. Imagine my surprise when he said let me see the red one. Well it has bigger tires, bigger motor, the body is wider, and heavy duty shocks, so needless to say it was a no brainer. Got the papers all signed, extras ordered and make plans to return on the 22ND and they would have everything ready.
Got a note from Frank and Suz on Tuesday morning saying they would meet us in Parker, what a pleasent surprise. They are boondocking outside of Lake Havasu, about 20 miles from Parker. We all arrived at the shop at the same time. The guys picked up all the paper work and headed for DMV to do there thing there. Suz and I went to a bakery next door and had coffee, and a nice visit. The bakery owner was quit chatty so that also helped pass the time. Before we all went our separate ways we had lunch at Rupurtios mexican reastaurnt, it was as good on Tuesday as it was on Saturday when we stopped there for the fist time. Fast food, hole in the wall with good food.
This afternoon we took the Rzr out in the desert on it's first official run. We found around 20 caches and gave our new toy a good run. When we got home Wayne took our neighbor Nate out for a spin, Nate said Wayne got the Rzr up to 60. Compared to the Rhino it is a real smooth ride. Can't wait to see what it will do in the sand.

My old phone bit the dust and ate all my contact numbers, what a pain that is. Now I have a iPhone and think I am finally starting to figure out a little bit. I guess it is good for old people to learn new things. B

CAMACHO'S PLACE

Sunday we ended our day of caching at this superb Mexican restaurant outside of El Centro. It was opened Dec 12, 1946 and now the 3rd generations of the family are running There the restaurant. Understand the Grandmother still cooks a full shift there. The Discovery channel was there last week and will air a program about the history of Camacho's Place. The food was so good, and Wayne was impressed how they placed the food on his plate. Can you tell which meal was his? CP started the deep fried Quesadilla and it is to "die for". That is what Betty Jo (JJ's Mom) told me and it is true. I had a Chili Relleno and Tamale, I want to try everything on the menu. We all shared a cheese Quesadilla, yumm, yumm. If you click on the picture it will be large enough to read about the restaurant.

Our day started at 7:00am at the Holiday Inn for the S.W.A.G Feb. breakfast, no pictures this time, just go to one from last month and this month was about the same. Maybe a few more new people. We can sure pack a room early on Sunday morning.

After breakfast the A Team headed for El Centro CA to cache that area. Like Yuma does not have enough caches to keep us busy. There are probably 2,000 caches in the Yuma, Welton area. I do believe it is now day 45 of Wayne and I finding at least one cache a day.

Today Wayne sold his Rhino, and last week he sold the Suzi, now he can not decide if he was a Rzr, or Canam, they are faster than the Rhino. Will keep you posted which one he decides on. Boy's and there toy's what can I say.

That is it for now, B

SPENDING SPECIAL TIME WITH GOOD FIRNENDS LUNCH AT LIGURTA STATION

life is good. We had a fun day Caching with fsrvers, to non cacheres that is Frank and Suzahanna. Suz's sister is here from Ohio, and they have been having a ball and on the go all the time. They are headed for Quartsite and then on to then it will be time for Sandy to head back to the snow country.

We did find 79 or 80 caches, did one of the pole dancing series, it was fun and a great number bumper but would not like to cache like that all the time. Need a challenge every now and then. Believe me here in Yuma you can find any kind of cache you want, lots of challenging finds out there. Lot of long hikes and mountain climbing if your into that kinda thing. Thanks goodness I am old and can not do that type of cache anymore, that is my story and I am sticking to it!!!!
Ligurta Station is one of the unique restaurants here in AZ. It is a hole in the wall but for Sunday morning breakfast you need reservations and if you do not have them you can sit at the bar if there is room. We had burgers, you can order them rare if you want.....but they all come well done, there policy. Wayne always order his rare anyhow. Friday and Saturday nights they have prime rib which you have to reserve your prime rib. They have 3 seating's for those nights 5:00, 6:00 and 7:00 pm. Remember us old folks have to be home by dark.

Not sure these pix are any better but they were taken with my new Fuji camera that is dust proof, shock proof, water proof, and freeze proof................NOW we will see about all of that!

SUNDAY WAS SPENT AT PICACHO CA

The Sunday morning started out with breakfast at Yuma Landing, and then on to Picacho CA for a day of caching. I decided that I was OK to go along, also knew they would be coming back in time for the Super Bowl. I had been in this area before but this time got to see much more of the area.

The center pix show JJ going the speed limit, could it be because he is following a policeman? La8 and JJ off loading and planning the best way to find the caches. We ended up getting around 28 or so, but there was some climbing to do so I supervised that part of the find.
There is a monument where the Picacho Mine use to be, it was also a virtual cache. The rest are random shots of the different rock formations. It was fun running in the wash, that is as long as you do not get stuck. I believe the body of water is Taylor lake. Camping here is very primitive, not my kind of camping. Look close at the catus pix, the sunlight makes it look like it's glowing.

Fun day of course, but by the time we got home I was ready to curl up with my book and relax, and that is what I did. B

Roughneck Rendezvous Geocaching Adventure II

Friday was practice day for JJ, BC39,W43 and COL, we wanted to be at the top of our game for the event on Saturday. We found 15 to 20 caches around the Ocotillo Wells area. Loved the submarine in the center picture. It was a fun afternoon. We made it back just in time for JJ to greet Char and Rzr, not sure which one he was most excited to see. I will say Char.
Judy organized the pot luck for Friday night. We got back to camp to late. Needless to say we did not starve. Had Mexican food for dinner, my favorite. After dinner it was time for a campfire.
OK see how many caches you can name sitting around the camp fire........ Now for the non cachers you would not know who they were even if I named them all.
It was nice and cozy sitting around the fire but then the wind came up and drove us all into our rigs. That was OK since we had to check in for Roughneck Rendezvous Geocaching Adventure II at 7:00AM. Thanks goodness that was 8:00AM Arizona time. Everyone had a good time and we even learned something along the way.

Sunday morning it was very windy, we got on the road around noon and headed home. Nice fun week-end with good people.
Life can not get any better than that.........B

OK SO I HAVE BEEN BAD

will try to do better. Check "Send gas money" if you behind on the blogs and it will catch you up on what we have been doing. The best and biggest thing is the fact that I am cancer free as of now. I that was what I expected to hear but Wayne was greatly relieved to have it comfirmed. Now to get my iron levels up, was told to eat spinach, rasins and watercrest, have not found any watercrest but do have spinach and rasins. Spent yesterday afternoon playing in my kitchen, made a marinated spinach salad, cream of spinach soup and still have more spinach to stir fry some. Let me tell you it is a big batch of spinach when you buy at Costco. I also make a tomato cucumber salad. It was fun playing in the kitchen for a change. Do not do that often since all Wayne wants it hambers, hotdogs, steaks, eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy. We did get some Prime prime rib steaks and do believe that was one of the best steaks I have had in a long time.

Since we were here at Ocotilla Wells last they have built a new visitor center, it is really nice and is not completly done yet. Here are some of the animal they had on display. Will just tell you about each picture. Big horn sheep skull, 3 old farts visiting, some of the rigs that arrived later. Saber tooth cat skull, me holding our cache for the day (27 days), our lonely rig before everyone started arriving. More rigs, there are 7 of us now, last year we only had 8 rigs in all, more are coming today. Center Pix Desert spitfire, and the last pix is a coyote. There is so much imformation and things to see in the visitor center. This is a very kid friendly visitor center.

Time to start breakfast I hear the "Old Fart" moving around. B

HERE IS 18 DAYS OF CACHING

Since the first of the year we have found a cache a day. Our longest streak of a cache a day was 12 days. Of course we have now beat that record. There are so many new caches in Yuma you could find a cache a day for many years, and there are new ones ever day.
We found a cache on the way to the hospital for Wayne's surgery that would be the last picture of the first collage. Wayne is still recovering but doing good, he is almost as impatient as me when it come getting well.
These are some pictures of after surgery, the day he came home from the hospital we had to go and get a cache, sorry did not get a picture of that. He looked so cute in his shorts.

Friday I go in for a PET scan and that will tell us for sure if I am cancer free for now. My cancer was the same as what I had in my lungs so expect to have the same results "no treatment needed".

Will let you know something when I know.....B
