Roughneck Rendezvous Geocaching Adventure II

Friday was practice day for JJ, BC39,W43 and COL, we wanted to be at the top of our game for the event on Saturday. We found 15 to 20 caches around the Ocotillo Wells area. Loved the submarine in the center picture. It was a fun afternoon. We made it back just in time for JJ to greet Char and Rzr, not sure which one he was most excited to see. I will say Char.
Judy organized the pot luck for Friday night. We got back to camp to late. Needless to say we did not starve. Had Mexican food for dinner, my favorite. After dinner it was time for a campfire.
OK see how many caches you can name sitting around the camp fire........ Now for the non cachers you would not know who they were even if I named them all.
It was nice and cozy sitting around the fire but then the wind came up and drove us all into our rigs. That was OK since we had to check in for Roughneck Rendezvous Geocaching Adventure II at 7:00AM. Thanks goodness that was 8:00AM Arizona time. Everyone had a good time and we even learned something along the way.

Sunday morning it was very windy, we got on the road around noon and headed home. Nice fun week-end with good people.
Life can not get any better than that.........B

OK SO I HAVE BEEN BAD

will try to do better. Check "Send gas money" if you behind on the blogs and it will catch you up on what we have been doing. The best and biggest thing is the fact that I am cancer free as of now. I that was what I expected to hear but Wayne was greatly relieved to have it comfirmed. Now to get my iron levels up, was told to eat spinach, rasins and watercrest, have not found any watercrest but do have spinach and rasins. Spent yesterday afternoon playing in my kitchen, made a marinated spinach salad, cream of spinach soup and still have more spinach to stir fry some. Let me tell you it is a big batch of spinach when you buy at Costco. I also make a tomato cucumber salad. It was fun playing in the kitchen for a change. Do not do that often since all Wayne wants it hambers, hotdogs, steaks, eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy. We did get some Prime prime rib steaks and do believe that was one of the best steaks I have had in a long time.

Since we were here at Ocotilla Wells last they have built a new visitor center, it is really nice and is not completly done yet. Here are some of the animal they had on display. Will just tell you about each picture. Big horn sheep skull, 3 old farts visiting, some of the rigs that arrived later. Saber tooth cat skull, me holding our cache for the day (27 days), our lonely rig before everyone started arriving. More rigs, there are 7 of us now, last year we only had 8 rigs in all, more are coming today. Center Pix Desert spitfire, and the last pix is a coyote. There is so much imformation and things to see in the visitor center. This is a very kid friendly visitor center.

HERE IS 18 DAYS OF CACHING

Since the first of the year we have found a cache a day. Our longest streak of a cache a day was 12 days. Of course we have now beat that record. There are so many new caches in Yuma you could find a cache a day for many years, and there are new ones ever day.
We found a cache on the way to the hospital for Wayne's surgery that would be the last picture of the first collage. Wayne is still recovering but doing good, he is almost as impatient as me when it come getting well.
These are some pictures of after surgery, the day he came home from the hospital we had to go and get a cache, sorry did not get a picture of that. He looked so cute in his shorts.

Friday I go in for a PET scan and that will tell us for sure if I am cancer free for now. My cancer was the same as what I had in my lungs so expect to have the same results "no treatment needed".

SALLY AND JUDY DID IT AGAIN

January S.W.A.G breakfast was a lot of fun with old friends and new cachers. It was O'dark thirty when we arrived and to our surprise we were the first ones there. Before long everyone else stated arriving.
Plans were made for the Yearly S.W.A.G BBQ Event, but I could not tell you what they were since I was to busy taking pictures and visiting. I tried to be quite but that is just not in my nature.
It was so nice to see everyone, and it always amazes me that so many people can get out and about so early on a Sunday morning.

Since Wayne and friends went caching after breakfast I hit the mall and did some shopping therapy, even treated myself to lunch at Red Lobster.

Even tho' it is a little cool here it was another perfect day in Yuma. B

NEW YEARS AND A DAY OF CACHING

This afternoon we went caching, this is the fist time I have been caching since Dec 5 the day before surgery. This must mean I am on the mend for sure. It was nice and sunny but it was very cold. I am not use to this kind of weather in Yuma. Understand it is suppose to warm up this week, sure hope so.

It was nice to get out in the desert and find a few caches, I think we found 15 in all. Nice also seeing fellow cachers we had not talked to in a while.
From the pictures it looks like I found 5 caches, but I think that Wayne missed taking a couple pix's of my finds. If you look close you can see some of the caches were quite creative. It was so nice to be out and about and I did not get overly tired.

SOUTHWEST CHRISTMAS

Once again we were invited to Char and JJ's home for Christmas, and it was most delightful. The weather was perfect around 70 and sunny with no wind. Everyone just kicked back and visited. Jackson entertained our table with his "Cars" race track, and by telling us about the Cocopah dirt race track. Another Christmas in the books now for the New Year.

Christmas alive and well in Yuma

Every year 55TH street here in the Foothills decorates for the holidays, telling the story "Night before Christmas". Lot of people walk the street but just as many drive down the street, as you can imagine we drive......... maybe next year we can do the walking thing. Anyhow I was trying to get pictures and finally had to tell Wayne to slow down a bit. Must admit some to the Pix looks good but you can not tell what it is.
Here are some of my favorite pic's, really hard to pick since everyone did such a wonderful job. Kinda puts you in the holiday spirit......
Loved this gingerbread house we spotted this on the way home. Every time I look at this pix it makes me smile.
Yesterday on the way to the Dr's office we could see a fog bank, the foothills was nice and sunny and downtown Yuma was socked in with fog.
Now I would like for you to meet Suzie, she is the nurse that keeps me on track, even coming in on her days off just to take care of me, what a gal. Thanks Suzi.

Still waiting on reports from the pathologist........takes time I know but I want to know NOW!!!

THANKSGIVING YUMA 2010

We went to friend home for Thanksgiving this year. The girls did such a good job with, Trukey, Ham, Green beans, Dressing, Mashed pototes/gravy, cranberry salad, fruit salad and cressent rolls. Let it be said that I can NOT cook anymore....wanted to help so they gave me a tube of cressent rolls and the first thing I did was whack it on the side of the counter a couple times.....all of a suddent everyone is yelling STOP, who knew you only had to pull the little tab where the arrow is. Now I know but doubt if they will ask me to do rolls again.
Dessert was pumpkin pie, cheese cake and strawberry pie, and all so Yummy. There are some candid shots of everyone visiting after our wonderful dinner. The kids kept us entertained as we let dinner settle.

ANOTHER WEEK GONE WHERE DID IT GO???

I am sure I have told you that we have a cache on our lot, well I am telling you again so I can post some pictures of people hunting and finding the cache. These are a few of the people we were lucky enough to be home and watch them make there find. As you all know I enjoy visiting and this gives me the perfect opportunity.
Friday we went to the outdoor swap meet, it is under new management and so far I like the changes they have made. Wayne was shopping at Wally's World, one of the clerks saw that I had a camera and started mugging for the camera, had a hard time getting the shot because everyone kept walking between us.

On to the food court, they still have the stage for entertainment, and there is now a Bar close to the stage. Not sure if they only sell beer, was not interested so did not check that part out. Not all the food booths were open yet but what was there all looked good. We decided on Tia food. Rice noodles and Jasmin rice one full order fed the both of us. There was a Mexican, and Greek booth and then the good ole American Hamburger and Fries, that booth also served breakfast and has biscuits and gravy. The lady at the booth said they would serve breakfast all day if they could find a cook. Time will tell on that one. Will be interesting to see what other foods come in, the way it was I had a hard time making a decision.
After the swap meet we headed for Cocopah casino, well on the way we stopped to say hi to friends. Phyllis and Wayne had company, brand new cachers so it was fun visiting with them. Can not remember there caching names but it started with M. Phyllis and Wayne had been to Woodstock 10 in the Seattle area this summer and Wayne was showing me some of the coins they had picked up at the event. They had a great 5 days of activities, no way would I have been able to go go go for 5 days.

On to say hi to Larry and Audry before we head for Cocopah. On the get my gambling fix, and I WON, we both did, well almost. We both gambled for quite a while and managed to get our money back and had enough sense to quit while we were even.

All and all another fun week in Yuma...................B

THE WEEKEND STARTED WITH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS

Teresa and Wayne are getting OLD, well maybe not Teresa. Larry, Audry, JJ, Char, all met at Outback for the birthday dinner. I was being kind to everyone and did not take a bunch of pictures........that is the last time I will do that. We had a good time catching up with what everyone summer adventures. Food this time was so so, not sure what happened, I had Ahi and it was outstanding or else I was really hungry for Ahi. Wayne and Teresa was nice enough to share there special dessert with all of us. Another good evening in Yuma.
Sunday morning and it is time for the S*W*A*G November breakfast, we got there at 7:20am and the place was almost full. So nice to see a good turn out this early in the season. We had a drawing for a cache that Icpc28 made and Bronco Busters got the prize.
It was so nice to see so many old Friends, just sorry I did not have time to visit with everyone. Early in the season and we almost filled the room at the Holiday Inn, a couple more months and we will be over flowing. The A team (tby, la8, jj, w43) went out in the desert caching after breakfast, I stay at the breakfast to hear the speaker and then go shopping. As you can see my week end was a nice relaxed one.

Now it is Monday and it is in the 80's, it is going to be another nice sunny day in Yuma.

BREAKFAST'S AND CAHES WHAT MORE DO YOU NEED

Saturday morning stated with a caching breakfast, nothing official just friends getting together. We all met at the golf course here in the Foothills. For once Wayne was happy with the gravy and my eggs were cooked to perfection. It was nice to visit with everyone.
Wayne put a cache on our lot, only manged to get a few pictures. Here is Barbara showing off her 5Th to find prize of two dollars. Wayne changed things a bit, instead of the 1ST and 2ND to find getting a prize he made it for the 5TH and 10TH. Leave it to Wayne to think of that. I think the 10TH to find is still up for grabs.

So far our weather has been in the 80's and 90's but understand there is a cool down on the way. Who knows the cool down might not be that cool.

Philippine Taxi

At least that is what it was billed as, I wanted Wayne to buy it for me so he could take me all over the foothills. Can you believe he dared tell me NO! I was so devastated he promised me a prime rib dinner at a "Swanky" place.

Let me tell you the "swanky" place was Ligurta Station in Welton, and any followers of my blog knows where that is. Will just say "no fly problems" since it was night. Seriously we met JJ, Char, Larry and Audry there and their prime rib was quite good, even tho' it is a small place out in the country you have to have reservations. The owner confirmed that you also need reservations on the week ends for breakfast.

Today we popped in and out of Mexico was not even there half hour.....got business taken care of and headed back to the USA. Well you have to go by the Q casino to get to Mexico so on our way back we stopped and tried our luck... I only lost 2.05 and I think Wayne won a little. While at the Q we checked out their lunch buffet and it was not bad. Will not need much for dinner tonight. On to Lowes for patio materials, Wayne is having a local make us a patio this year. On to the Exchange and Commissary, then to Walmart, relaxing day but by the time we got home we were both ready to kick back and relax.

FUN TIME WITH FRIENDS IN THE GARAGE

The garage at Loags Roadhouse was taken over for a Birthday and Annivery celebration. The first Picture is of Berta and Bill, Roy and Dixie, Larry and Peg, my plate of food, yummy catfish and homemade potato chips and Darwin (The Birthday Boy) and Ruth.
42ND Anniversery for Linda and Jim. Last 3 picutes are Ken and Annette, Bonnie, Ron and Kay. Do you kinda get the idea that all we do all winter is Geocache and eat out, not true some do crafts, other read. Some of the men spend a lot of time in there workshop making caches for the rest of us to fine. Then there are other that like to spend there time in casino. Yuma has something for everyone. In another month or so the festivals will start so there will be even more to do.

The weather here today is perfect, should only get in the 80's today, windy yesterday but does not seem to be so far today. We are still trying to get settled in, getting permits for the car and Rhino, trying to get estiments for a stone patio, looking for someone to wash and wax the MH. WOW this sounds like to much work for me.....got to go rest.

Welcome Back Pot Luck!

Tonight was the Buffalo Burger pot luck at JJ and Char's home. Wayne and I arrived early, that way I got to see and visit with most people as they came in. Also got a peak at what they brought for the pot luck. It pays to plan ahead you know.
There was so many different appetizers, salads and way to many deserts. I can not image anyone going home hungry. Tortilla stackers was something I had never had before and it was quite a hit. Oh so many different things to eat I did not know what to have first.
Most people I tried to say hi to as they came in, but also had fun table hopping. Caching is not about the caches we find or hide but all the great people we meet along the way.
The "Original Can of Beans" was there for the Original cache in Oregon. Must be the end of the party Char is packing us a lunch..... Thanks JJ and Char you are the GREATEST!
