PLANED TO LEAVE VANCOUVER EARLY

Leaving Vancouver early did not happen, Wayne took the first load out to the car, SURPRISE someone did "smash and grab" and took the Nuvi. Thank goodness they did not see the two GPS's laying between the seats. Had to wait for the police to come by to make a report. There was video of that area so they may have it on tape. They had to wait for the manager to come in to view the tape. Not sure what good that will do. We did not stick around to see. Off to Doug and Tami's for some help!!!
Doug and Wayne headed for Home Depot for some plexus glass and duct tape. Doug and Wayne made a pattern and Tami traced it to the plexus glass. After a lot of cutting and recutting and taping the job was finally done. Not sure what we would have done without Tami and Doug, thanks you two. We got started home around 10:30 or so, make a stop at 7 Feathers for fuel for the car and us, did not even gamble. Got home around 7:00 or so.....to tired to know what time it was or even care.

Today we are loading the MH and trailer so we can head for Yuma tomorrow morning.

FAMILY BD PARTY FOR CASSIDY

On the 19TH Cassidy will officially be a 13 yikes a teenager. Today Grandma's Grandpa's Aunt, and Uncles, Mom, Dad, Brother, and Good friends all got together and had an early BD party. Tami tried to get all of Cassidy's favorite food for everyone to enjoy. Great job Tami, she even showed me how to make a family favorite "pigs in a blanket". One of the favourite snack was "puppy chow", now you will have to figure out that one.

Present time brought in some bucks for Cassidy, one suggestion was to start saving for car insurance for when she turns 16.....yeah right. She also received a day spa gift certificate. You can never be to young to pamper yourself. Another favorite was all kinds of gum also some bright socks for winter. Rice a Roni was another favorite. Nice haul Cassidy.


Cassidy had two special BD cakes one was an Ice Cream cake and the other one was a fun cake from the Miracle's. The chocolate cake was for putting her face in......looked like she had a frosting mask on, well she did have a frosting mask. Wonder if this is a new beauty treatment? Fun time. Thanks Cassidy for letting us share your special day. B

TIME IS FLYING

Yesterday we picked up Trace after school and took our time going home. Just happen to have our GPS's with us so we found 3 caches on the way home. The first cache I did not have my camera with me, what can I day it was in the car in my purse. Did take a picture of his first cache and sent it to his Mom Tami. Took the easy way out for dinner, KFC and it was good for a change. Never taste as good as I remember when it first started.

Finally got some pictures of the Grandpuppy's, Ollie and Pedro, the next time I see Pedro he will be almost grown and not as jumpy.....least I hope so. He is in his own little world, you have to watch him when you pick him up because he likes to give you lots of kisses. The dogs get along so well together.
Birthday dinner for Doug and Cassidy was at P.F. Chang's in downtown Portland. It was Yummy. We had spicy green beans, Chang's spicy chicken, sweet & sour chicken, beef with broccoli, P.F. Chang's fried rice, white rice, and double fried noodles. It was just the right amount of food so there was no leftovers. Everything was quite good and the spicy things were not to spicy. I am ready to go back there anytime.
On to Saint Cupcake to have desert, it was a small place with 6 or 8 tables. Tami and I shard a large vanilla with cream cheese icing, and then we each had a mini red velvet
a classic buttermilk cake with a hint of cocoa and screaming red. topped with a dollup of classic vanilla cream cheese icing.
Doug had a fat Elvis,banana chocolate chip poundcake cupcake topped with a swirl of our salty-sweet peanut butter fudge. we finish the cupcake with a banana chip. it’s take on Elvis’ favorite peanut butter & banana sandwich.
Wayne toasted coconut cream buttery vanilla cupcake with toffee chips baked right in, then topped our classic vanilla cream cheese icing and hand toasted coconut flakes.
Trace hot fudge on vanilla buttery vanilla cupcake topped with our gooey-drippy homemade hot fudge. I am not sure what Cassidy had and she was sitting at our table, but must admit Tami and I was having to much fun sharing our vanilla with cream cheese icing buttery vanilla cupcake with classic vanilla cream cheese iced on top.

There is another cupcake place that is better but it has no seating, so we will take some plates forks and sit on the curb if we have to. Wonder if we could do that tomorrow......... DO NOT thanks so, tomorrow is the family BD party. SOOOOOOOOOOO to be continued.............................B

DOUG BOWLING??????

If you have checked "send gas money" you already know we are in Vancouver WA. Got a text from Tami telling us about a fundraiser Doug's work was having at the bowling alley...... of course we could not miss this. Doug is not a bowler but by the end of the first game he was getting the feel for the game.
Tami even got roped into bowling a game, think Cassidy bowled the first game. As you can tell by the pix, some got creative with there costumes for bowling. Wonder if this has anything to do with Halloween being this month. Needless to say they had a great time and W and I had lot of fun just watching.

Back to the motel and it was crash time..........long day B

SUE AND SCOTT'S IN CORN TOWN

Sue and Scott arrived early afternoon on Sunday Oct 3rd. They are headed home and this is there last stop to visit. We set them up in the Motor Home and then headed for the casino. This is Corning and what else is there to do but go gamble and eat. It had been years since I ate at the steakhouse Timbers and must admit it was very good. We started off with Crab cakes and do not remember ever having better, Salad was a green salad with there special raspberry dressing with real raspberries. Yum. We all ordered different, Scott had a Rib eye steak, Wayne a rack of Baby back ribs, Sue Lobster, and myself Artichoke crusted Halibut. Everything was very good. Next time I will make a meat out of the crab cakes. Needless to say we all brought a "dogie bag" home. As you can tell I was impressed. Good call Sue.

Monday morning we decided on Breakfast at Hometown Cafe here in Corning, it was getting late and I was getting hungry (imagine that), anyhow checked with Sue and Scott to see if they were ready. Wayne was watching TV and grumbled "what's your rush" and of course I told him I was HUNGRY! He told me to just wait a few minutes, now if you know me and how I am when I am hungry you can imagine this. I tossed my purse in the chair and stomped into the office. Next thing I knew someone is coming in the front door yelling "I am hungry let's go to breakfast". It was Rhonda she had taken the day off to spend the day with Aunt Sue and Mom. Everyone knew she was on her way but me. It was such a wonderful surprise. Off to Hometown cafe and we had a great breakfast, I think Rhonda and I was the only one that finished our breakfast since we split one.

After breakfast we headed for the casino, Rhonda needed to play a while. Wayne had an appointment in Chico so we were on our own. Scott wanted to stop at the Olive Pit, Rhonda was so excited because she had not been there since she was in her teens. After leaving the OP it was time to show Scott some of the farmland, since was an OLD farmer. There is a Olive grove that looks more like a vineyard but it is a new way to grow olives for olive oil. It will be interesting to see what they look like when they are fully grown.
Rhonda happened to think of the Vina store and there Pastrami sandwiches so off we go to show Sue and Scott the big town of Vina. Picked up the sandwich and headed home so we could all share, and they are still as good as the use to be. We visited a little more then Rhonda headed home to her family. It was such a nice surprise to have her spend the day with us. Thanks Rhon.

By the time Wayne got home from Chico we had already decided we needed Mexican food at Monties for dinner. After dinner we went back to the casino and I think Scott finally won a little bit. Made plans to go to Old Folks breakfast in the morning before Sue and Scott headed towards home. This morning neither one of them were hungry (can't imagine why) and they decided to head on down the road for home. Thank You Sue and Scott for spending a couple days with us here in Corning. Hope to see you in Yuma next time.

Time to get the MH reloaded and ready for our speed run to WA.

TODAY JACE TURNS 13 TODAY

We started to celebrate Jace's birthday on Friday night with the Family birthday party. Steve BBQ'ed chicken legs and thighs and they were perfect. We also had salad, and rolls. I think Rhonda said there was only 4 pieces of chicken leftover. It was a fun evening and I got to visit with everyone, imagine that. Jace raked in a few buck in his cards....now what to spend it on?
Saturday morning I went over to the house to see if Jace was ready for his day in Sacramento. When I got to the house Jace was still sleeping, I guess he was practicing being a teenager sleeping in. Our first stop was Arden Fair Mall, hit Starbucks first thing for a Mocha and scones. Walked around the mall a little bit and then headed for Old Sacramento. We walked around OS till we found the horse and buggy ride.........why walk when you can ride. We did the short ride around OS. By now we are both ready for lunch, so Joe's Crab Shack here we come.
Our timing was perfect, they told us 15 minutes and then they called us right away. Jace checked out the menu and it was hard to decide till I started looking and spotted the New England Boil. It had 2 1lb lobsters, clams, shrimp, sausage, corn on the cob, onion and potato. We decided that would be perfect. We had fun cracking the lobster and it was OH SO good. Hope you noticed how brave Jace was with the Alligator. Everyone wished Jace Happy Birthday at Joes Crab shack and then we were off the the Westfield mall. There Jace found battery powered bugs that change directions when they run into something, so we got Jace and Bryce a bug.

It was such a fun perfect day. Thank you Jace for a fun time.

Sue (my sister) just called and they are almost here...... YEAH Later on Sue's visit so stay tuned B

LOUISE IN CORNING

No one will believe this but I have been very bad about taking pictures since Louise has been here. I will blame the casino for that since they do not let you take pictures inside the casino, and yes we have spent some time there. SURPRISE. I have won enough that I have a nice little gambling fund, not sure about the other two.

Went to "Hometown Cafe" for breakfast yesterday and it was quite good. Good enough that I should not do that very often, if you get my drift. I did catch Louise in a rare moment of kicking back relaxing.

Louise's grandson plays football for Shasta Jr Varsity and they played Corning last night and won. Louise and I went with Mary to the game, the first 3 quarters we had to sit on Corning's side because that is where the shade was. You know how Old Ladies are.

After the game Mary had to hurry home and bake a cake and get things ready for Doug's 16Th BD party which is Saturday.

After the game Louise and I went to Monte's for Chili Rellenos, and they are so good there made with fresh chilies. Louise has to go back to Redding today but I am sure we will be able to get at least a short tip to the casino before she leaves. We had not really done much since Louise has been here but we sure have been having fun doing nothing. Got to get better about pictures, will work on that............. Later B

WOODLAND WEEK END

Friday we headed for Woodland, the last time we got to visit with the kids was when they make a quick stop here on there way home Labor Day week end. Looks to me like Gauge has grown more since I last saw him. The boys was surprised when we walked in. I played catch with Bryce, did not do to bad either. Needless to say this old lady tired out quickly so Jace took over for me.

Rhonda and I made a quick run to Costco and got a tri tip for dinner it was yummy, thanks Steve for manning the BBQ. Steak salad and Bread what more do you need. After dinner we watched "Letter to Julia" Cute movie.

Saturday morning first thing I had a message from Louise, she had arrived the day before from Hawaii. Called he back and discovered she was still in Woodland and going to visit her Aunt before she and Mary headed for Redding. We decided to meet at Don's Dinner for breakfast. What a nice unexpected surprise. Come to find out Louise's Aunt is in a nursing home across the street from Don's Dinner.

Jace's Leadership club was having a car wash (pix first collage above) so of course Popi had to have his car washed. The kids had a lot of fun washing cars between horsing around. The hardest working car washer was the little one pictured washing the tires on Steven's truck. She was so cute she would watch the bigger kids and then do what they were doing, only better.

Saturday afternoon Wayne and I headed for Cache Creek (surprise) got to playing a machine where you pop balloons, we must had play those machines for over an hour. Ended up with both of us making a little bit. Saturday night was spaghetti dinner and a movie at the Pearson's, Tiff, Spencer, Huggie, Ron Diana and us. It was a fun night the movie was "Guys and Dolls" the production that the boys were in this summer. It was fun to watch them and they had so much fun.

Sunday Morning we met Rhon, Steve, Bryce and Huggie at Don's Dinner for breakfast. I road home with Rhon so we could get some "shopping therapy" done before we headed north. Once again another successful trip to Woodland.

CACHING

Yesterday we headed East and did some caching, for the first time since we were on the coast in Aug. Ended up going halfway to Paskinta. We found 15 caches, we made sure they were nice easy finds. Love the evil grin on Wayne's face as he show-off his find. We found some wild turkeys, well they could not have been to wild since they just looked at us and kept on eating. Not sure but think I found a dragon, could not be sure since I did not want to get close, you be the judge. Some of the caches were found where the WPA had worked in the 1939-1940's. It was a fun day to get out in the country and get some badly needed exercise.
When it was lunch time I remembered that the bowling alley was open again and I was sure they still served lunch. It was so good to see Jerry and Bev back in the alley again, and there happy to be there too. Took the picture of Jerry to quick because after I snapping the picture he had the nicest smile. Once again Bev stayed out of camera range, she is good at avoiding cameras. To me the Alley seems smaller, they have done several remodels since I left there in 1986. There is a small snack bar with homemade pies, a bar, game room, and of course 10 bowling lanes. Had a long overdue visit with Bev and Jerry. Will have to stop in and try there breakfast something, it is a sure bet I will not be trying out the bowling lanes...

Thinking about going down to Woodland this week end, it seems like the Pearson's have an almost free week end. Wayne is ready to go somewhere, we will take the MH and park at the fair grounds. The fair grounds is just a parking lot but it has full hookup so that is all that counts. Hopefully Rhon and I will have a chance to get some shopping therapy. More later after the week end. B

TODAY WE MADE ROOM FOR MOTOR HOME

now that the tree is gone we can park the MH in the front yard with the slides out. Now visitors have a choice of the MH or the extra bed room. This Motor Home is about 4 feet longer than the old one and it just would not fit between the houses anymore. Now that we can open the slides I can rearrange all the cabinets for the 8TH time. Hopefully this will be the last time. We always carry more than we need, I am a good on for putting stuff in "just in case we might I need it".
Roy his Son and Grandson did a great job, very entertaining watching them work. They even let Wayne be the supervisor on this job. Now we need to have some dirt put between the houses and maybe some road base and things will be good.
Time to take it easy now since we worked so hard this morning, well it is hard work taking pictures you know!

THE LAST YARD SALE EVER

that is right never again on a yard sale. Of course we all say that at the end of a yard sale, but this time I am serious. We did not have anything special to sell just stuff that has been laying around so it was time to put it back in service. Thank goodness for our Mexican community they were our best customers. We started at 7:00AM and ran till 12:00 PM. We would have had more customers if we had of put up signs, Wayne put two big signs on the Suzi with arrows pointing across the street..... we got rid of stuff so I guess it was a success.
This was what the trailer look like when we rolled it back into the garage yesterday afternoon. Everything not sold fit on the trailer.......so this morning late we rolled the trailer back out in the drive way, this time Wayne only had arrows pointing across the street. About 11:00 or so we started boxing up things that did not sell and put them at the curb with a sign that said "FREE". We headed out for lunch and our trip to the casino and when we got back everything was gone, even the free sign. I would call that a successful yard sale.

PEARSON FAMILY VISIT

Can you believe two post in two days.......well do not expect this all the time because my life is not that busy at the moment. It was a fun morning we met Rhonda, Steve, Jace and Bryce at the casino for breakfast. We had a nice visit and our favorite waitress and one of our oldest friends here in Corning was our waitress. Dani started telling the boys about Rhon when she was a kid, needless to say they loved hearing the stories.
After we got home it was kick back times. The boys found the "Where's Waldo" books that Steven had given me years ago..... the book are older than the boys, but I did not tell them that. When the Pearson's left they were taking the boys to Chico to Bidwell park. Bryce has baseball practice at 3:00PM so they will not be in Chico long.

21ST Corning Olive Festival

We went to the Olive Festival for a short while, we walked around and checked out some of the booths. Of course we had to go to the Corning Chamber of Commerce booth and buy some raffle tickets. This year there are three drawings, fifty fifty raffle, Merchant donations, and a special donation from Chip MC Coy of a Patio Bistro table . I will accept any they choose to give me. It could have been our timing but there did not seem to be a lot of people there, we might have been to early or to late.
The weather was nice and cool for the festival but I bet Gary Strack wish it was a little warmer since he was the first up for the dunk tank. The kids had a lot of fun dunking Gary..... come to think of it Gary looked like he was having fun too.

From there since we were out and about we went to the casino SURPRISE!!! But no surprise that they did not let us take any of there green stuff home with us.

Rhonda and family are expected here in the morning, Rhon seems to shooting for Breakfast around 9:00 am so we will see on that one. Not matter what time we will have breakfast and a good visit. The boys have to see for themselves that Popi is doing OK.

Will try to get some good Pix tomorrow so I can make another post tomorrow. Later B

WAYNE HEALING

W is starting to get anise and he has only been home 3 full days. He is doing better all the time. He has updated his blog.

Normally we would be at the Clark County Fair in Vancouver WA. Trace and Cassidy both had 2 cows each entered in the fair. Tami text me on there progress. "3RD in showmanship and good in class. No top honors this year for Trace and Cassidy. Trace's cow had best clip job." I am sure that will be back at it next year.

I have done a lot of nothing today and need to get back at it......B

HE IS HOME

Wayne called this morning around elven and said "come get me." Took my time cause you know how slow hospitals are. After seeing him yesterday I was very surprised. Now that he is home he lets me do very little for him which I guess is good.

He just updated his blog so check it out, best to get the info from "the horsed mouth" B

PAIN PAIN AND MORE PAIN

Today or I should say last night the pain started. He got very little sleep last night and then this afternoon he was trying to take a nip and I popped in for a visit. I think he will suggest I stay home tomorrow, he wants me to call around one or two by then he will know what is going on. He feels Thur will be the day he comes home.

Wayne thought it would be safe to order a tuna sandwitch for lunch, figured they could not mess that one up. Well he ate it but under protest not sure what he will try next. Maybe I can bribe hime with a couple cheeseburger tomorrow.

Since I was in Chico I HAD to go shopping and I scored big time. Liz Claiborne computer case that sells for $129. I got for $25. It even has a 10 year warranty.

8-9-10

Today was Wayne's big day, it started at O'dark 30 we arrived at Enlo Hospital for his day in surgery. I was able to stay with Wayne till it was time to get knocked out, and the show to begin. I was an hour to two hour operation. Since we had time to kill Rhonda and I went to the snack bar at the hospital and had Chicken fried steak, biscuits, gravy, tater tots and eggs.....all in Waynes honor. We talked to the Dr after the job was done and was told we could go and visit. He was a little groggy but good color and just as ornery as before. The nurse had him moving his feet and bending his knee, and Rhonda and I were amazed. Wayne was ready for a nap so he made us leave and told us to go home.
Rhonda and I had some Mother Daughter bonding time, that is right we went shopping. Hit TJ Max, Old Navy, Forever 21, and Victoria's secret. By that time Rhonda was hungry, and she wanted to go to Red Lobster, and that was the perfect choice. She got the Ultimate Feast and then we shard, just the right amount of food. Back to the Hospital to check and see how Popi is doing and he was looking even better. They had stand by the bed with a walker and take two steps up and two back, shoot he wanted to take the walker out in the hall but the would not let him do that...... wonder if he will tomorrow. Hope his night is as good as his day has been.

Do believe this will be an early night and sleep in late tomorrow morning.........or am I only dreaming? B

HOT IN THE VALLY SO HERE WE COME ARCATA

It was nice and cool on the coast, we made the trip to visit Fergie, an old school chum of Wayne's. It was fun listening to the stories of school pranks. We got there in time to go to dinner at Blue Lake casino, Alice's Restaurant, I was happy since they had Buffalo burgers. The next morning after breakfast of homemade blueberry pancakes, we introduced Fergie to Geo Caching, imagine that! One virtual was a mural in town, understand the bagel shop next to it is the best. I doubt it Fergie will ever find another cache but he enjoyed seeing what caching was all about.
Made the trip to Trinidad it is a quaint little town, I love sitting on the park bench watching the water. Fergie told us some old legends about the rocks out in the water. Guess what there was a casino in Trinidad and it was lunch time so off we go. Cher-Ae-Heights Casino was quite small there snack bar OK, but when we got our players club card we drew a card to see how much gambling money we got loaded on our new card. Wayne and I got $25. and Fergie $10.
Fergie took us to his Model Train Club. It was really interesting, and I took around 200 pix.....imagine that! The club members have put lots of work into there club.....two hours flew by before I knew it.

Guess what there is another casino in the area and it is almost lunch time so off we go to Bear River, I think I liked this casino the best, it was another small one they loaded $5. on our card for being new members. They had a nice little dinning room and on the menu was Dungeness crab sandwich I was in heaven. I would go back there just for the sandwich.

We had a great time, and Fergie spoiled us with corn chowed for a lite dinner, and in the morning before we hit the road he fixed up Blueberry muffins....yum-yum.

Glad to say an uneventful trip home and the closer to home the hotter it got and is. All for now B
